Frequently asked questions

  • What is included in a Female Health Bloods appointment?

Female Health Bloods can include a combination of tests tailored to your needs, such as general blood screening, female hormone testing, thyroid function, iron levels, heart health, inflammation markers, nutritional status, menopause hormone testing, PCOS panels, Vitamin D and Vitamin B12. The exact tests will depend on your symptoms, concerns and what you want to investigate.

  • Do I need to fast or book my test on a specific day of my cycle?

Some Female Health Bloods do require fasting (for example diabetic screening, general blood screening, heart health or certain nutritional panels), while others do not (such as many hormone, iron, thyroid or Vitamin tests). In addition, some hormone tests are best done on specific cycle days, such as Day 2–3 or Day 21. Full instructions are provided when you book, and if you are unsure, you can contact us and we will advise you.

  • Can Female Health Bloods help with symptoms like fatigue, irregular periods or low mood?

Yes. These blood tests can help investigate common symptoms such as tiredness, low energy, irregular or heavy periods, weight changes, hair loss, low mood, hot flushes, joint pains or recurrent infections. By checking areas such as iron, thyroid, hormones, inflammation, Vitamin D and B12, we can help identify potential underlying issues that you can then discuss with your GP or specialist.

  • Will my results be explained to me and can they be shared with my GP or specialist?

Yes. Your results will be reviewed and reported in a clear, structured format. If you wish, we can also send a copy of your results to your GP, Consultant or fertility clinic to support your ongoing care. You are encouraged to bring your results to your healthcare provider to discuss any follow-up or treatment.

  • Can I have Female Health Bloods if I am on the pill, HRT or other medication?

Yes, you can still attend for Female Health Bloods while on hormonal contraception, HRT or other medication, but it is important to know that some medicines can influence certain hormone results. Recent use of hormonal contraceptives or HRT (within the last 12 weeks) may affect female hormone levels. When booking, please tell us what medication you are taking so we can interpret your results appropriately and advise on the best timing for your tests.

  • Do you provide interpretation of my blood test results?

The laboratory we partner with will include a full interpretation and scale of your results, which is emailed directly to you. As we do not offer additional interpretation or follow-up medical advice, we recommend consulting your GP, Consultant or clinic if you have any concerns or require further guidance.
