These tests are carried out to protect patients, laboratory tissue and cells from infection, and to support appropriate care planning to reduce the risk of transmission to the partner and baby. Viral screening requirements for Irish and UK clinics are generally the same, with some differences for European clinics.


    This blood test includes: 

    HTLV 1 & 2, Hepatitis B Surface Antigen, Hepatitis B Core Antibody, Hepatitis C Antibody, HIV 1 & 2, Rubella IgG.


    What to do before the test:

    • You are not required to fast before this blood test

    • Stay hydrated by drinking water as normal

    This blood test includes:
