Frequently asked questions

  • What do Fertility Blood Tests check for?

Fertility blood tests assess key hormones and health markers that influence ovulation, ovarian reserve, menstrual cycles and overall reproductive wellbeing. Depending on the test, they may measure AMH, Day 3 hormones, progesterone levels, thyroid function, iron status, metabolic markers and more, helping you understand your fertility health with clarity and accuracy.

  • Do I need to attend on a specific day of my cycle?

Some fertility blood tests require specific timing, while others do not.

    • AMH and Beta hCG can be done any day.

    • Day 3 Hormone Tests and Female Fertility Panel must be done on Day 3 (or Day 2/4 if needed).

    • Progesterone Bloods should be done around Day 21 or 7 days after ovulation. If you are unsure about your timing, we can help you choose the correct day.
  • Do I need to fast before Fertility Blood Tests?

Most fertility tests do not require fasting, including AMH, Beta hCG, Day 3 hormones, Progesterone, Miscarriage Panels and PCOS testing.

However, the Female Fertility Panel requires a 10-hour fast, and PCOS profiles often include fasting markers. Each test clearly lists its requirements, and you will receive full instructions before your appointment.

  • Can these tests help if I’m experiencing symptoms such as irregular cycles or difficulty conceiving?

Yes. Fertility blood tests can provide valuable information when cycles are irregular, ovulation is unclear, or pregnancy is taking longer than expected. They help identify hormonal imbalances, thyroid issues, ovarian reserve status and other factors that may affect natural conception or assisted fertility treatments (IVF or IUI).

  • How quickly will I receive my fertility blood results?

Most fertility blood tests are returned within 24–48 hours, depending on the profile.

    • Day 3 Hormones and Progesterone can be available same day if selected.

    • Larger panels such as the Female Fertility Panel may take slightly longer.

All results are delivered clearly, and can be shared with your GP or fertility clinic on request.

  • Do you provide interpretation of my blood test results?

The laboratory we partner with will include a full interpretation and scale of your results, which is emailed directly to you. As we do not offer additional interpretation or follow-up medical advice, we recommend consulting your GP, Consultant or clinic if you have any concerns or require further guidance.
